KKO| Meet the Team: Alicia Raye
Updated: May 27, 2020
We asked the KKO team to fill out a questionnaire in order to give our clients a little more information about who we are as a team and also individually. Alicia Raye has been a part of KKO Productions since 2010, before it was officially KKO Productions. She serves as a director and production manager and is a crowd favorite for her keen eye, love of music videos and sharp communication skills. Meet Alicia Raye.

Who are you? What’s your name and where are you from?
Alicia Raye.
I am what you’d call a stateside Puerto Rican, I spent most of my childhood in San Diego and have been in Los Angeles for over 10 years now.
What’s your position at KKO?
I am a director and production manager
Why did you decide to get into this line of work?
I’ve always wanted to entertain and leave some sort of mark on the world. Film is the best way to do both. There have been films that have entertained me and changed my life - to do that same thing for someone else is extremely fulfilling.
How did you become a member of this team?
I’ve been here since the beginning. I’m an OG founding member. Went to college with Kelby.
What are you most looking forward to?
I always look forward to helping people tell their stories. We all have a story and it’s important -- no one else can tell your story like you can. I am just here to help you do that.
What is one project you felt resonated with you the most?
Every project is different and there are different takeaways and learning opportunities with each, but there is a special episode of Interesting Stories that hit home for me. It was a true story about a young woman who survived Maria, the 2017 Hurricane that devastated Puerto Rico. It was such an emotional piece for me. I remember being in California when the hurricane was approaching and happening and just praying and crying for my people feeling so stuck because I wanted to help, but how.. Over 3000 people died as a result and being able to meet a survivor, a refugee, and tell her story and the story of the 3 million Americans on that island..man, it was such an emotional time.
What do you hope to see in the future of KKO?
Overall, I think we all want success of course but that's relative right? What’s important to me is continuing to do projects that cause people to think - be introspective. I think those are important.
Are you inspired by anyone’s work?
Definitely Karena Evans, Nabil, and Reed Morano. I also recently heard a podcast with Kestrin Pantera and I was super intrigued by how she described her filmmaking style, fluidity, and just willing to learn from others and consider their outlooks on projects -- I admire that.
One day, who do you hope to work with?
TINA. FEY. But I also really want to direct an episodic, like the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, or something equally creepy and supernatural. There are also so many music artists I would love to work with; Bad Bunny, Travis Scott, Rihanna, Grimes, Sevdaliza, FKA Twigs...to name just a few.
